Egg Fast (Round 2) Day 3

Breakfast

Like most egg fast days, I started with a BulletProof Coffee, which I halfway prepped the night before (by putting the butter and coconut oil into the cup of water – ready to go straight into the microwave in the morning).  It’s typically too hot for me to start on as I head into work so I nursed it from around 9-11 as I worked.

Lunch

I also prepped my lunch the night before, but got a late start to it delayed bedtime a bit.  Taking hardboiled eggs in some form is generally the easiest and most appetizing way to eat eggs on the go, and for me an egg salad works the best, as plain eggs are only good warm.  Also, the egg salad goes perfect with the cheese chips, which I’m loving since I figured out how to make them crunchy.  I didn’t think as I grabbed the drink, which has 5 carbs; typically I’d pick something else that was closer to 0 for the egg fast days.

Dinner

Lunch held me over pretty well and I came home to a package of Quest cereal bars I had ordered; I’d received one in my Keto Krate and wanted to try the other flavors too.  I had my brother try the Waffle flavored one and ate a tiny corner to taste it.  It tasted much more of syrup than waffles but definitely decided my dinner for me.  Cream cheese pancakes are always a great, tasty go-to.

I usually get in more walking on days I go into the office but food-wise, I did fairly well.  It still amazes me when I do this and have eaten so little; I’m rarely hungry during the day and always feel like I’ve eaten a lot more.  In the end, I had 4-5 eggs and just under that of cheese.

I also remembered to weigh this morning and am back down to 210, which is down 2 from my last weigh-in and down 5 from when I started this.

Egg Fast (Round 2) Day 2

Breakfast

I worked from home today so around 11 am I had some BulletProof coffee.  This time I added chocolate flavored liquid stevia and some cocoa powder.  It was pretty good and I’ll definitely try that again.

Lunch

Mid-afternoon I cooked a couple of eggs with my egg rings, to make them like McDonald’s eggs, and topped with some Colby-Jack.

Dinner

In the early evening, I scrambled 4 eggs and topped with most of two slices of white cheddar (the ends were stuck to the bulk).

Snack

To finish my day, I ate about half of what was left of the cream cheese mixed with sugar free Jello.

Overall I had 6 eggs and about 6 oz of cheese.

I was back up another two pounds this morning, after one day back on the egg fast.  That leaves me with 3lbs net loss from the first round.  Hopefully my next transition days I can stay on track more and not regain so much.

Egg Fast (Round 2) Day 1

Breakfast

With being off work today and it still feeling like the weekend, it was a bit difficult to get back on track so I eased into it.  I did sleep in a bit and then fasted a while longer but eventually  I started with some BulletProof coffee, to which I added some cinnamon.  It was a nice combination.

Lunch

Late-afternoon I had some scrambled eggs with some cheese and finished off the bacon.

Snack

I wasn’t too hungry later so I had some more of the cream cheese mixed with sugar-free Jello.

I definitely didn’t eat enough today, especially eggs, but seeing how much I ate yesterday and how late I ate some of it, it’s somewhat understandable.

Low Carb Day

Lunch

Today was a bit of a cross between low carb and the cookout holiday food.  I’d been craving hot dogs and got them out of the freezer yesterday.  Together with some low carb bread, cheese, bacon and fixin’s made a great craving-satisfier.

Snack

After my all-American lunch I figured some ice cream would be a perfect follow-up.  The Halo Top Peanut Butter Cup is pretty good.

Dinner

Once my brother got up, he wanted Five Guys and I’m not one to turn that down.  Lettuce-wrapped little bacon cheeseburger is SO GOOD!

Snack

I sliced some cheese as a snack later in the evening.  While I was letting it warm, I mixed some sugar-free jello with cream cheese to make a “fluff”.  I didn’t quite follow a recipe or use all the suggested ingredients but I thought it came out pretty good.  I just ate a bit out to test it.

Snack Part 3

I was up pretty late and felt a bit snackish again.  I spotted this Bacon flavored Kale from my last Keto Krate and decided to try it out.  It was very bitter and the bacon seasoning really stays with you.

To get the Kale out, I did eat one serving of Lily’s chocolate with some peanut butter, which I discovered was already open.

I didn’t do as well today but, compared to a regular day, it was somewhat low carb.

This morning, after one day off the egg fast, I was back up 2lbs but still down 5 from where I started.

Low Carb Transition – Day 1

Lunch

I was feeling a bit nauseous this morning so I didn’t eat for some time. When I finally decided to try eating, I went with some plain scrambled eggs with bacon on the side.

Snack

Mid-afternoon I finished off the second serving of Lily’s chocolate and the jar of peanut butter.  Hopefully if I don’t open a new one right away, I’ll be able to resist the combo for a time.

Dinner

As with the other meals, I had a late dinner.  I had Saffron Chicken and roasted Cauliflower delivered from a local Mediterranean restaurant.  It’s one of my favorites and is delicious while still being low carb (depending on what they actual put in the sauce).

Snack

I was up late and finished off my day with a low carb bagel from LC Foods smeared in cream cheese and with a side of sliced Gouda.

Overall I think my first low carb transition day went pretty well.  I tried to stick to and incorporate some of the egg fast components so I don’t get too off track.

Egg Fast Day 5

Breakfast

Even though I went in the office today, I still started the day with my go-to, BulletProof Coffee.  The vanilla addition is starting to get a little stale, so while waiting for the train, I added a few more add-in sugar free syrups to my Amazon cart.

Lunch

I didn’t really start on the BPC until I was partway to work, since it was so hot, so it held me over for all of the morning.  At around 1 I went to lunch.  Luckily, I had prepped some egg salad (hardboiled eggs mixed with mayo and mustard) and some cheese chips (sliced cheese baked in the oven).  They were really good together and I didn’t even use all the chips.

Dinner

Come dinnertime, I decided to start working on the transition from egg fast to low carb by cooking up some bacon (basically 0 carb) and having it with my scrambled eggs.  After no other flavors for a week, it was delicious.

Snack

I stayed up pretty late and broke my transition plan with some Lily’s chocolate and peanut butter.  I had planned to not do any sugar this first weekend but gave in to the craving.

Until the very end, I did pretty well sticking into the egg fast and easing into the low carb transition days.

I can definitely tell the egg fast works.  I was down two more pounds after just one day.

Egg Fast – Day 4

Breakfast

I was back to BulletProof Coffee for breakfast today.  Since I brewed the coffee last night for the Tiramisu and I add butter to the coffee anyway, I just used that for my coffee this morning.

Lunch

For lunch I scrambled three eggs and added a slice of cheese.

Snack

After a walk and quick shopping stop, I ate some of the Smoked Gouda I had bought.  I’ve really be craving it since I got a big block at my discount grocery.  This wasn’t as good but it was still pretty good.  I estimate I ate about 3oz altogether.

Dinner

I’d finished of my hardboiled eggs so I boiled a new batch.  To me they’re best when they’re warm so I just peeled and ate them without anything added.  I should’ve had them with some mayo to up the fat intake but just ate them plain.  I also had a smaller bottle of Powerade Zero.

I’m always surprised when I do this at how few pictures there are.  I always feel like I ate much more than this and am never hungry.  I often have to make myself eat.

Today I had 6 eggs over two meals plus about 4oz of cheese.  I also had at least 3oz of fat, between the coffee and scrambled eggs.

Results:

I finally remembered to weigh myself before eating or drinking anything this morning and am down about 5lbs from May 19.

Egg Fast – Day 3

Breakfast

I started the day with another BulletProof tea, which it appears I forgot to take a picture of.  I used a Cinnamon-Spice tea today, and thought it was pretty good, although not as good as yesterday’s.

Lunch

I actually ate around lunchtime today, another of my favorite recipes I’ve found on Egg Fast sites, Fried Hardboiled Eggs.  Just slice up some hard-boiled eggs and fry them in some butter.  A great way to get more eggs down.  This time I tried adding cheese and mayonnaise for the first time and thought it made it even better.

Dinner

Since the cheese chips went so well yesterday, I tried the same method today, this time using pre-sliced cheese.  It worked just as well; I put the oven on 350 for 5-10 minutes (I didn’t time it) and then turned the oven off but left the cheese in the oven for about 30 minutes.  They were perfectly crispy.  Today I paired them with some egg salad, just two more hard-boiled eggs mixed with mayo and mustard.  It was a great combination.

Dessert

I made the mistake of leaving the TV on the Cooking Channel and someone made a Tiramisu dessert.  I’ve bought the stuff to make tiramisu but can’t while I’m on the egg fast.  I searched for recipes again though, and found the perfect solution: Caramel Machiatto Tiramisu from IBIH.  I’m a great fan of her recipes, including egg fast ones, and this one uses the Cream Cheese Pancakes instead of Lady Fingers and is perfect for the egg fast, with slight modification.  I didn’t have all the necessary ingredients but did add a little coffee syrup to my pancake batter and made a small, condensed batch of coffee to soak the pancakes in.  I didn’t have any HWC (which isn’t on the egg fast anyway) so I blended some cream cheese and caramel syrup for the “sauce”.  It would be better following the actual recipe but it wasn’t bad, especially if you get a little bit of everything together.

Also not pictured is a large Powerade Zero that I nursed throughout the evening.

All-in-all today, I had about 5.5 eggs and about 5 oz of cheese.  Every meal had some fat, either cooking in butter or adding mayo, so I think I’m good there as well.

I also felt a lot better today, not feeling sick at the thought of eggs as much.  I’m definitely going to get through tomorrow at least and will try to continue through Friday (when I go into the office for work).

Egg Fast – Day 2

Breakfast

For a change of pace, I started my day with BulletProof tea, instead of coffee.  It’s basically the same but instead of making coffee, you make tea and add the butter and coconut oil to it.  It was pretty good and a nice change of pace so I might try it again tomorrow.

Snack

I finally was able to bake some cheese into actual crunchy chips.  I cooked them at 350 for about 10 minutes and then turned the oven off and left them in there for about 30 minutes.  They came out crunchy and I had them with a little ranch again, plus the Powerade Zero.

Dinner

Just a couple of warm hard-boiled eggs.

Dessert

Cream Cheese Pancakes are one of my favorite egg fast meals.  I made just two since I wasn’t terribly hungry.  This gave me one egg and 1/2oz cream cheese plus some butter.  I made a larger batch, which I’ll finish off tomorrow.

I didn’t get near the eggs I had planned today.  That comes from fasting until after 11am and then having the BulletProof tea, which got me until around 4pm.  The late start, together with a nap, didn’t give me much eating time.

Egg Fast – Day 1

Breakfast

One of the harder things about an egg fast is getting in all the fats required for the day (one per egg) so an easy way to jump start the fat intake is with a BulletProof Coffee.  It also gives a nice caffeine jump and, if you do intermittent fasting, helps you push back your first meal.

The egg fast suggests a minimum of six eggs per day,3-5 meals with eggs and at least two eggs per meal.  I try to hit the minimum and, this being the first day, went for three in my first meal in case I felt nauseous later and didn’t want more.  These are cooked liberally in butter, for the fats.

Snack

Cheese sticks make an easy and convenient snack while on the egg fast, and help with the cheese intake, also one oz. per egg.

Dinner

Three more eggs, scrambled, with butter and one slice of cheese melted in.  I always salt my eggs, it really helps make them more palatable, and use Lite Salt, which has potassium, while on the egg fast.

Snack

I broke two slices of cheese into quarters and baked them to make these cheese chips.  I had them with some ranch dressing to dip them in.  It’s main base is mayo, which is an approved fat, but has other things added, so not the best option but better than my usual marinara sauce.

Dessert

My last cheese serving, an oz of cream cheese mixed with Swerve and some vanilla to make a quick and easy cheesecake substitute.  You can blend to make it fluffy too.

Day one went better than expected, especially since I was not following low carb prior to beginning the egg fast.  I’ll work on spreading the eggs out better tomorrow and not having quite as much cheese.
