December 9, 2017 – Egg Fast Day 6

Breakfast:

A switch-up with the BulletProof Coffee this morning, I added some Pumpkin Spice syrup that came in my new Keto Krate.  There wasn’t quite enough in the two packets to overpower the bitterness of the coffee (since I usually use 1-2T and each packet was 1t).  I did also add a little vanilla and it was quite good.  I’m looking forward to trying the little sweetener packets that came in it as well.

  

 

Lunch:

I ended up running baking shows in the background today so was craving something sweet, so I made another batch of Cream Cheese Pancakes.  They were again delicious with the new syrup.  The cheese content was actually a bit low as one big clump, of about 1T didn’t mix in.

  

 

Dinner:

I was also having a bit of a pizza craving so I had the next best thing, some baked cheese slices dipped in Ranch dressing.  A favorite snack anytime.

  

 

Summary:

I was a bit cheese-heavy today and too low on my eggs.  I only had two eggs and about 3T of cheese.  My fats were highest, with 4-5 tbsp between all the meals (Ranch is mayo based which makes it count as a fat).  I’d forgotten when I made the cheese chips that there was cheese in the pancakes as well or I’d have eaten an additional hard-boiled egg or two as well.

  

December 8, 2017 – Egg Fast Day 5

Breakfast:

And again, BulletProof Coffee for breakfast.  I don’t really get tired of starting my day with BPC because I have a nice variety of Torani Sugar Free syrups that I can flavor it with.  These really help if feel like a different drink each day while acting essentially as a meal replacement.  I do sometimes make a BulletProof Tea to switch things up though.

  

 

Lunch:

Today was my other day to go into the office this week so lunch was essentially a repeat of Monday’s as egg salad is the easiest thing to make ahead of time and take in with me (especially since eggs are hard to heat).  I had already baked the cheese chips on Sunday with the others so I threw those in as well.  I probably shouldn’t have had the Bai Coconut Water; it only comes to 2g net carbs for the bottle but has several grams of sugar alcohols, which I am supposed to be limiting during the Egg Fast as well.

  

 

Dinner:

I’m pleased with having lasted so long on the Egg Fast but am starting to get to the point where nothing sounds appetizing.  I had taken the two cheese sticks to work with me in case I needed a snack, so I just warmed a hard-boiled egg in a hot water bath and at it with those.  I thought of deviled eggs while writing this so I may have those tomorrow.

  

 

Summary:

I did better today; I know on some previous days I’ve definitely not been having as much as I should.  Being in the office and moving around more helped I think.  Altogether I had 4 eggs and 4oz of cheese.  I also had 4-5 tbsp of fats between the BPC and the mayo in the egg salad.

  

December 7, 2017 – Egg Fast Day 4

Breakfast:

No surprise, BulletProof Coffee to start the day.  It has 2T of fats, which makes it quite filling.  Depending on how it’s sweetened, it’s also usually only 0-2 grams of carbs.

  

 

 

Dinner:

I had a dentist appointment right after work so I didn’t have my second meal until late.  With the cold blast finally hitting Texas, I decided soup would hit the spot.  I’d had this Egg Drop Soup recipe during a prior egg fast and it’s quite good.  I decided to add a third egg, which turned out to be too much for the amount of liquid.  I also didn’t keep stirring it as the egg solidified so it got a bit clumpy in the center.  It ended up to be more like eating Chinese flavored runny eggs but wasn’t so bad I couldn’t eat it.

  

 

Summary:

I had originally intended to also have some cheese after but since I ate so late, I wasn’t hungry afterward.  As such, I had 3 eggs and no cheese.  I had at least 3T of fat but am not sure if there was any additional fats in the soup broth.

  

December 6, 2017 – Egg Fast Day 3

Breakfast:

BulletProof coffee again of course.  It’s always a good, filling way to start the day, especially now that it’s colder out.

  

 

Lunch:

For lunch today, I went with Cream Cheese Pancakes.  These are one of my favorite egg fast recipes, especially now that I’ve found a really good, thick sugar free syrup to go with them.  They’re also really easy to make.

  

 

Dinner:

As a counter to the sweet lunch I had a couple of over-well eggs, lightly salted.  With it, a couple of pieces of cheese.

  

 

Summary:

Again, carbs are super low due to following the egg fast.  In all, I had 4 eggs and 4oz of cheese.  With that 3-4 tbsp of fats, mostly in the BPC but also when cooking the other two meals.

  

December 5, 2017 – Egg Fast Day 2

Breakfast:

Again starting with BulletProof coffee as a way to get in some fats; that’s usually the department I struggle the most in.

  

 

Lunch:

After I got off work I still wasn’t really hungry so this was really more of a dinner.  I took two hard-boiled eggs and sliced them before frying them in some butter.  It’s actually a pretty tasty way to have eggs.  I also had two types of cheese, just over an oz of each.  After this I hard-boiled some more eggs and did eat one of those plain while it was still warm.

  

 

Summary:

I definitely didn’t eat enough today and expected I’d be hungrier but I wasn’t.  I had three eggs and probably about 3 oz of cheese.  I had at least 2T of fats from the BPC and one or two from the butter I cooked the eggs in.

  

December 4, 2017 – Egg Fast Day 1

Breakfast:

After falling off the wagon over Thanksgiving I decided to do an egg fast to reset myself.  I’m going to try to do the full week but we’ll see how it goes.

I started the day with a BulletProof coffee, with plenty of filling fats to tide me over.  I came into work early and nursed it through the morning.

  

 

Lunch:

Well into the afternoon I had time for lunch and had an egg salad along with some baked cheese chips.  This was two eggs with mayo and cheese and 2 slices of cheese along with a Powerade Zero.

  

 

Snack:

I got home early, after a stop at the dentist to reapply a temporary crown.  I decided to stick with soft foods, finishing some egg drop soup I’d ordered a couple of days ago and having a couple of cheese sticks.

    

 

Dinner:

Later in the evening I was feeling hungry again and went ahead and scrambled some eggs with some butter and topped with cheese.  I also had a flavored water, slightly sweetened.

  

 

Summary:

Altogether today, I had 5 eggs and 5 oz of cheese.  I also had about 5oz or Tbs of butter so I was mostly on par with the egg fast plan.  I had a total of 5 carbs, mostly from the egg drop soup as it was restaurant bought and not homemade.

Egg Fast (Round 2) – Day 3

 

Breakfast

My BulletProof coffee this morning was chocolate flavored; I added some cocoa powder and chocolate flavored sweetener and it was definitely delicious.

 

Lunch

Early afternoon I had some scrambled eggs with provolone, for something different.

 

Snack

I had received a cereal-style Quest protein bar as part of my last Keto Krate and ordered a few of each to sample.  The box of untried flavors, together with a shortage of eggs, led to my breaking of the egg fast for the evening, starting with this chocolate cookie protein bar.  I thought it was pretty good but my brother didn’t care for it.

 

Dinner

The many pizza commercials and ads I’ve been hit with lately, both on tv for Papa John’s return of the cheeseburger pizza and online for larger versions of the Real Good pizza in stores finally broke me and I had a small pepperoni pizza for dinner, together with a soda.

I also hardboiled some eggs and mixed them with tuna, which I ate a little of before putting the bulk in the fridge for later.

 

Snack

The down side of those protein bars is that they are very sweet, which triggered the sugar craving.  I finished off the last of the cream cheese mixed with Jello (half of what’s pictured below) but it didn’t do the trick so I also had one serving of Lily’s (half a bar) with some peanut butter.

 

 

Even though I didn’t stick to the egg fast all day today, I did at least stick with low carb, despite the cravings and options in the house for otherwise.  I haven’t yet decided on tomorrow, whether to get back on (after buying eggs) or stick with the LC, so we’ll see.

Egg Fast (Round 2) Day 3

 

Breakfast

Like most egg fast days, I started with a BulletProof Coffee, which I halfway prepped the night before (by putting the butter and coconut oil into the cup of water – ready to go straight into the microwave in the morning).  It’s typically too hot for me to start on as I head into work so I nursed it from around 9-11 as I worked.

 

Lunch

I also prepped my lunch the night before, but got a late start to it delayed bedtime a bit.  Taking hardboiled eggs in some form is generally the easiest and most appetizing way to eat eggs on the go, and for me an egg salad works the best, as plain eggs are only good warm.  Also, the egg salad goes perfect with the cheese chips, which I’m loving since I figured out how to make them crunchy.  I didn’t think as I grabbed the drink, which has 5 carbs; typically I’d pick something else that was closer to 0 for the egg fast days.

 

 

Dinner

Lunch held me over pretty well and I came home to a package of Quest cereal bars I had ordered; I’d received one in my Keto Krate and wanted to try the other flavors too.  I had my brother try the Waffle flavored one and ate a tiny corner to taste it.  It tasted much more of syrup than waffles but definitely decided my dinner for me.  Cream cheese pancakes are always a great, tasty go-to.

 

 

I usually get in more walking on days I go into the office but food-wise, I did fairly well.  It still amazes me when I do this and have eaten so little; I’m rarely hungry during the day and always feel like I’ve eaten a lot more.  In the end, I had 4-5 eggs and just under that of cheese.

I also remembered to weigh this morning and am back down to 210, which is down 2 from my last weigh-in and down 5 from when I started this.

May 30, 2017

Egg Fast (Round 2) Day 2

 

Breakfast

I worked from home today so around 11 am I had some BulletProof coffee.  This time I added chocolate flavored liquid stevia and some cocoa powder.  It was pretty good and I’ll definitely try that again.

 

 

Lunch

Mid-afternoon I cooked a couple of eggs with my egg rings, to make them like McDonald’s eggs, and topped with some Colby-Jack.

 

 

Dinner

In the early evening, I scrambled 4 eggs and topped with most of two slices of white cheddar (the ends were stuck to the bulk).

 

Snack

To finish my day, I ate about half of what was left of the cream cheese mixed with sugar free Jello.

 

 

Overall I had 6 eggs and about 6 oz of cheese.

I was back up another two pounds this morning, after one day back on the egg fast.  That leaves me with 3lbs net loss from the first round.  Hopefully my next transition days I can stay on track more and not regain so much.

Egg Fast (Round 2) Day 1

 

Breakfast

With being off work today and it still feeling like the weekend, it was a bit difficult to get back on track so I eased into it.  I did sleep in a bit and then fasted a while longer but eventually  I started with some BulletProof coffee, to which I added some cinnamon.  It was a nice combination.

 

Lunch

Late-afternoon I had some scrambled eggs with some cheese and finished off the bacon.

 

Snack

I wasn’t too hungry later so I had some more of the cream cheese mixed with sugar-free Jello.

 

I definitely didn’t eat enough today, especially eggs, but seeing how much I ate yesterday and how late I ate some of it, it’s somewhat understandable.
